Kevin Cossom: Isn’t Like the Rest

“I want to be as big as I can be,” are words said by Kevin Cossom, an R & B artist who is ready to leave his mark in the world of music. A performer since the admirable age of three years old, Cossom recognized his flair and passion, and knew he wanted to be a part of the music industry by the young age of 14. Now he’s all grown up and ready to take us and the music business by storm with his hot lyrics and gifted voice.

Unlike most artists, Cossom doesn’t just fall into one genre of music, “there are different things that make up my style; pop, rock, R&B. You always win bigger when you don’t play it safe.”

Cossom is a musician that is not a fan of sticking to a specific style of sound. An artist that he admires a great deal is Kanye West, “it would be an honor to work with Kanye West. I am inspired by people who like to reinvent themselves.”
If you feel that today’s R & B sound is old, and want to be introduced to a new flavor, then it’s time to check out Kevin; “I’ve taken a different approach to R & B. I’m different from the norm.”

Being a fan to artists such as Coldplay, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix, and the Dream, you can guarantee he’ll bring a creative sound, incorporating the likes of his favorite musicians.

Jive RecordsKC should be categorized with Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo, two artists who began writing songs for other musical geniuses, until they were ready to step into the limelight and introduce themselves to the world as singers. Cossom has written for musicians some of us dream of working with; such as Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, and the one and only Keri Hilson. In fact, Cossom helped write Hilson’s record “Knock You Down,” which featured Ne-Yo and Kanye West.

His hard work and dedication to stay outside of the box, landed him the opportunity to work with Grammy award winning producer Danja. Now Cossom is an artist on his label, New Age Rock Stars (N.A.R.S). More than ever he is ready to show us what he has to offer as a recording artist, “my album has something for everybody. It features feel good music about very relatable subjects. Anyone who has ever been in a relationship, or had feelings for anyone will be able to relate.”

KC is currently in the studio working on his album; but don’t worry because you can download his pre-album at KevinCossom.com

Rising Star ... The Kirko Bangz Interview

Sometimes, it must fall upon the journalist to ensure that what they are hearing in an interview is clear enough that they can truthfully and accurately present their subject's words as quotations. This may require asking for an answer repeatedly, admitting you missed something that could have been important, or actively picking and choosing which quotes should be completely captured in a form of verbal triage. Other times, it may simply require asking the subject to slow down because your cell phone's speaker is woefully inadequate. Such was the case with Kirko Bangz, and regrettably, I did not follow the advice laid out above. The following is what I can transcribe from my conversation with the Houston hopeful, whose Drake on promethazine approach has been reverberating within the scene.
