In early August, Wyclef Jean announced his intentions to run for President of Haiti, his country of birth and the country he has fought for and campaigned on behalf of throughout his career. Now, a few weeks later his campaign has been rejected by the Haitian Electoral Council, citing that although Jean was born in Haiti and didn't come to the United States until he was nine years old, he has not lived in Haiti for the last five years, which is one of the requirements to be president of the country. Having met Wyclef before this year and the whole campaign, talking to him about politics among other things, I think the country or the Provisional Electoral Council should reconsider its decision, if for no other reason then for the sake of rebuilding.

In the United States, persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty. But what happens when a person proven guilty  may actually be innocent of the crime in which they are accused? Ask Troy Davis, the 41-year-old Georgia man who has spent the last 19 years on Death Row for the 1989 murder of Mark Allen MacPhail, an off-duty, white police officer, in Savannah. On Tuesday, a federal judge in Georgia rejected Davis’ claims of innocence after a rare evidence hearing that was ordered by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Platinum... Aliya S. King book review

Written by Herina Ayot

When you think about simple one-word titles reminiscent of diamonds or jewelry or money, you think about simple unpolished writers with a propensity for small words and even smaller plots. You think street literature at most, self-published, crawling with profanity, sex, drugs, and violence. A story that looks like the writer made it up as she went along. No real beginning. The climax, if there is one, is ambiguous, and the end leaves loose ends, story lines unfinished. You don’t think intricate plot, vivid imagery, gritty dialogue and detail that involve the reader to the point where he is transported to the very room where the conversation is taking place. You don’t think superior storytelling, which is why the title, "Platinum", Aliya S. King’s debut fiction novel, has not done her book justice.

With worldstarhiphop.com, currently the most viewed Hip-Hop/urban entertainment site online, Q has helped change the magazine business forever. At the same time, our interview was like talking to a mentor, rightfully so since he is a CEO from NYC, who has found success in the same business I've been trying to get a grasp of for the past 6 years. In our exclusive interview we had the opportunity to talk to Q about his start, his passions, his failures and now his biggest success. Need a story of inspiration? Look no further.
