Is President Obama’s rise hurting qualified Blacks?

It’s a worthy question given some of President Obama’s cabinet selections, foreign ambassador choices and now judicial appointments.

Out of the 30 members of Obama’s closest team members, including cabinet members, czars and advisors, only 4 are African Americans. In fact, former Republican President George W. Bush cabinet diversity is not that far off from President Obama’s.  Yet, no one would consider President Bush to be a champion of civil rights.

Warning: The following subject matter may be offensive to some. Just like they say on TV, viewer discretion is advised.

First off, I would like to state that I am a heterosexual male. I LOVE women, even though it seems like a one-way street with them and me at times. I may not be Don Juan DeMarco, but I do okay.

I am getting ready to discuss the very sensitive subject matter that is transgender people. Transphobia is a type of phobia that refers to the discrimination against transexualism and/or transsexual people based on the expression of their internal gender identity. Because transphobia is based on the individual’s expression of their internal gender identity this is a form of gender bias discrimination and NOT sexual orientation discrimination. Unlike drag queens and transvestites, people often incorrectly associate their gender identity with homosexuality.

The Upcoming Midterm Elections and a Misinformed Electorate

That was fast. The hope and optimism that swelled around the country during the campaign and election of President Barack Obama is giving way to harsh realities.

Today, a majority of Americans are back to thinking that the country is headed in the wrong direction after a short-lived period where most thought it was on the right track.

Although Obama’s approval rating is still 3 times stronger than his predecessor, there are growing doubts about whether he can succeed at some of the biggest items on his to-do list. And there is a growing sense that he is trying to tackle too much too soon.

New Arizona Law Sparks Outrage and Reminds of Slavery Era

Racial Profiling Is Not Immigration Reform
Arizona is the face of the Republican solution to immigration reform. While some may think President Obama is dragging his feet on reform, the GOP would rather drag you by your feet out of America. The purge of moderates and the increase of conservative ideologues is destroying the Republican party. Governor Jan Brewer just passed a bill that gives the officers an additional tool to fight the influx of illegals into the state. This will become the foundation for the emergence of the states’ rights movement that is sweeping the country. The bill further allows and extends existing laws to nothing more than racial profiling. The reverse engineering of America is on display—written with this bill, and signed with the heart of inhumane separation. We have gone backwards in America as it relates to the safe passage and protection of our immigrants. All so-called liberals and conservatives have ignored the problems that come with an open border. The neglect of immigration reform, as it concerns Hispanics, has brought us to the point of reactionary law. The state of Arizona has been given a free pass by a conservative legislature and Governor—with that pass they chose to promote police resources to legal profiling. The state had full run to do with their immigration policy whatever they choose, and profiling is the product of that Republican control. The Arizona legislature passed the reemerging of something far worse than the Jim Crow south, as it relates to the Hispanics in this country. This new law that requires all citizen documentation to be held on a person or face jail and even deportation is parallel to a darker time in the country, slavery.

“…And it ain’t gonna stop with Obama
To save the world we must start from the bottom”
~ “Sour Patch Kids” by Asher Roth

This all came about when I was watching an ad for 40oz Malt liquor; although the commercial was racially insensitive, we gotta be realistic. What type of people drink 40s? I know I don’t see Tiger Woods on the green gripping a 40 or Barack at the podium taking swigs in-between sentences. Therefore, I wasn’t as upset at the fact that everyone in the ad was black.
