Lyfe Jennings' fourth and final album entitled, I Still Believe, is his best work by far. It offers more than a glimpse into the thirty seven year old's complex life and his mastery of lyricism, but a prolific view into his mind. "Statistics," is an advisory to women out there who dive first into relationships without thinking. It does not quite set the tone for the album, but is precisely placed at its opening. The song "Love," reverberates with technically sound production and is another admonition this time to the men out there who do not take the time to give the women the love they deserve.

Platinum... Aliya S. King book review

Written by Herina Ayot

When you think about simple one-word titles reminiscent of diamonds or jewelry or money, you think about simple unpolished writers with a propensity for small words and even smaller plots. You think street literature at most, self-published, crawling with profanity, sex, drugs, and violence. A story that looks like the writer made it up as she went along. No real beginning. The climax, if there is one, is ambiguous, and the end leaves loose ends, story lines unfinished. You don’t think intricate plot, vivid imagery, gritty dialogue and detail that involve the reader to the point where he is transported to the very room where the conversation is taking place. You don’t think superior storytelling, which is why the title, "Platinum", Aliya S. King’s debut fiction novel, has not done her book justice.

Intimacy: Album III... Kem album review

Five years after Album II, Kem releases Intimacy: Album III. The twelve cut cd is full of songs that are bound to sell to R & B fans who enjoy good music that is both sophisticated and cool. Opening with "When I'm Lovin You," a jazzy and mellow quiet storm beginner, Kem delivers a superb track that is bound to hit urban radio. Kem has a way of making you take note of his range and this is especially evident on the first five songs on the cd. "Love Never Fails," which although sounds like a rework of his current single "Why Would You Stay," is a profound declaration of love that notes why Kem's first two albums have made him a known name in the R & B world.

Written by Donald Lee

Scott Pilgrim is your average everyday overeducated, underachieving, undersexed but overly pure, young adult in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. Suffering from the loss of a girlfriend who left him for a rising career as a pop diva, he plays bass in a band with an aspiring guitarist and a cynical drummer. He dates an "underaged" 17 year old Asian girl, named Knives, which his friends disapprove of but who is crazy for him. When Scott goes to a party, he soon meets the girl of his dreams (literally), Ramona Flowers. He cheats on Knives and falls for Ramona deeper and deeper. As the sins of his action confront him, he eventually realizes that he must face the troubles he has made to become the better man that can win Ramona’s heart.
